Launching his career in 2004 in New Zealand, Joel’s always looking at reinventing the everyday person, how they walk, how they talk, what would make their look ‘pop’? His sense of humour and easy going nature has won him a local Paddington following. Precision and attention to detail is what you will find once you have sat in his cutting chair, rich, bold blondes ae his speciality .Having worked on runway shows in New Zealand for Karen Walker and with work featured in Pulp magazine, he’s one to watch.
After a year sabbatical Erin has re joined the team to inject her quirky and electric style to the mix at Salon X. Erin has a passion for hair and listening to her clients needs, is her secret weapon when uncovering the potential and possibilities in each and every head she touches.
“It’s simple I love making women look gorgeous” says Sheree and her signature pastel blondes are a hot favourite with her regular clients. She is the colourist for Jennifer Hawkins, Natalie Imbruglia, Ruby Rose, Jessica Marais and Natalie Bassingthwaighte.
“My favourite salon in the world is Valonz in Sydney. All the stylists and colourist there are top of their game. But Shree is my Fav. She does my balliage and she is an artist!! It looks so natural!! It can get really expensive flying home to OZ just to get my hair done by her. Haaa!” Natalie Imbruglia. Her understanding of effortless glamour is crucial to her success. “I play with tone in colour,” she says. “Whether it’s blond, brunette or red it’s a progression, colour for every client is about evolving the tones, so it’s not always the same thing, so each time it puts a bounce in the step.” Her work is meticulous and the effect “hair envy” from every woman who hasn’t had an appointment with her. “I’m really big on good condition too, so I spend time with each client and go through their home maintenance program - the healthier their hair the better my colour will be.” Editorial credits include: Harpers Bazaar, Marie Clare, Madison, Cleo, Cosmo
Nik loves nothing more than creating an individual look that inspires both him and his client, and believes reading a client is the ultimate in getting the best results. After launching his career in Queensland in 2000 he moved to Sydney, launching here in 2004. Danielle launched her career in 1994 and since then has enjoyed exposure both here in Sydney and in Canada. She loves vibrant, sexy healthy hair, and knows the right questions to ask to uncover what you want and need. Williams has worked on Australian Fashion Week 1999 – 2006 and at New York fashion Week 2004 - 2010. Her work has been featured in Much Music Canada, Star Daily Entertainment, Pandora, Danone.
A career that spans over 20 years, George has a unique ability to reach in and just ‘get it’ is truly remarkable. A mentor to the entire Salon X Team, his level of experience and technical ability have cemented his clientele loyalty and trust. “My job is to examine the hair and the person so that they walk away with change. Stavros has been an integral part of the Valonz team for almost a decade. A cult like following Stavros’s makes each and every client who is in his chair deighted with what he creates. No job too small, his clients feel like they have been transformed from head to toe. Stav has worked backstage in London fashion week alongside Renya Xydis for Sass & Bide in 2008 and has also worked at Australian Fashion week from 2004 to 2010.
Salon X’s home grown talent Alex is a rising star. Having been trained and guided under the watchful eye of Head Stylist George Vasilaris and Colour Director Sheree Knobel, Alex produces precise, fresh and modern hairdressing. It’s all in the details, softly spoken Alex relates to her clients and gives them exactly what they are after with her signature touch.
As the driving force of creativity for her three beloved salons, Xydis leads her team to be the very best that they can be - leading by example. Xydis is constantly pushing the boundaries of creativity which has seen her work for over three decades in some of worlds leading publications from iconic Vanity Fair to Vogue. Travelling the world throughout the year to work as hair director on runway shows, her stamina and dedication is inspiring. Xydis ‘can do’ attitude towards hair makes her a natural favourite with her loyal celebrity clientele. One of the pioneers that set out to work on an international platform backstage with the world’s most prestigious hairdressers in Paris, Milan and New York from 1988 to present, Xydis creates trends. Having being involved in ‘a great idea’ at the time, that being Australian Fashion Week, Xydis is a sought after by designers year after year.

What’s the biggest highlight in your career? Having worked for one company for ten years!! James, Renya & Juliet have been amazing..Working in Paris and Milan with Eugene Souleiman and Martin Cullen. They are hair Maestro’s, also meeting my favourite designers- Stella McCartney, Ann Demeulemeester and Yohji Yamamoto whilst working on their shows.

How do u excite your daily hairdressing from the time you walk in the door of work? I try to have a new prank ready to try out on staff, especially the desk girls..You can’t be serious all the time can you??

What is your top tip for beautiful skin? Start looking after your skin from a young age so that at 40 your skin will look great. There is no quick fix but long time care. Consistency counts!

Che what makes for a great day in the salon? A great day in the salon is when all my staff are on, the salon is full, the music is pumping, there is interactive conversations across the floor, the work leaving the salon is HOT! People are walking past feeling the energy exploding out the door.
How do you find the right Stylist/Colourist for New Clients? I find what style/colour/technique & inspiration the client is looking for and pair up according to who I think would best deliver what the client has requested.
How do you inspire your team Che? I always try to be positive and give the best customer service that I can give. When I am doing my job to the best of my ability then I feel that my team will follow.
What is the one thing you love most about your role at Salon X ? I love getting to know our clients and working in a fast paced and professional environment. I really love working with my team at Salon X
Head Senior Stylist - George Vasilaris
George you have been in the industry for a while and been with the company for over 13 years, how do you inject some excitement into your daily hairdressing ? By adding something different to every client that comes in. Giving a client a different blowdry, colour or treatment keeps you and the client more interested. I believe that if you don’t tweak your loyal and long standing clients they will go somewhere else for change - never play it safe - it’s hair!
What’s the biggest highlight in your career? I found my creative skill early on in my career and to this day I enjoy seeing the new generation of hairdressers come to learn their creativity. I enjoy being a mentor to the team at Salon X. There are good hairdressers and their are great hairdressers, we all work here at being great hairdressers.
Colour Director / Certified Master Colour Qualification- Sheree Knobel
Sheree who and what inspires you? My clients inspire me. From the celebrities, musicians, mothers, business women, fashion designers, each and everyone of them have a story to tell and I enjoy hearing the diversity!
What sort of a hairdresser would you are you known as? Technical yet creative colourist who knows what tones to use to compliment a client. I listen to my clients needs and wants and direct them down the right path. Ultimately maintaining the hair condition is my priority, the balance of what clients want and what their hair can do is my job.

What do you most enjoy about being a hairdresser? Doing a beautiful haircut on a client and them loving it
How should clients prepare before coming into the salon for a completely new look? The clients should bring along some pictures to show the feeling of what they want and ideas.
How powerful do you think a new cut is for someone’s confidence? I think if someone feels good about themselves and the way they look, a haircut gives them more confidence.
